The Caseys: Jon and MaryAnna,
Renee, Andrew, Nathan, Todd, Jennifer
Jon and MaryAnna Casey are church planters with SEND International, and they joined SEND in 2006.
Jon grew up in a strong Christian home and put his trust in Christ while very young. In 1994 he was baptized and committed to follow God with his life. His parents are missionaries and he was able to join them in ministry as God cultivated his heart for missions.
MaryAnna trusted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of five. As she grew up and faced challenges in life, she went through a time of questioning God’s existence. It was through this season that her faith was tested and solidified. In ninth grade she rededicated her life to God and chose to follow Him with her life.
Jon and MaryAnna believe that they are called to the raising of their children. God has given them five children to raise. Andrew and Renee are twins, born in 2005. Nathan was born in 2007, Todd was born in 2010, and Jennifer was born in 2012. Raising their children is their first ministry, and other forms of ministry overflow from their family to those around them. They have seen God confirm this in their lives, and as their children grow and learn, that growth often spreads to their friends and the Caseys' neighbors.
While attending Alaska Bible College from 2002 to 2006, the Caseys became active in praying for the villages in Alaska and were made aware of many of the needs off of the road system. They heard of the drugs, alcohol, and suicide, and especially noticed the high number of villages with no Christian families living in the communities. It was through this time that their hearts were drawn towards western Alaska.
Since then, the Caseys have gone through various classes with SEND and are becoming more aware of the great potential of the Alaskan people. God has gifted many Alaskans, and they can also become a light in their communities and to other places around the world as they learn of Jesus Christ. The Caseys' hope is to live long-term in western Alaska where they can reflect Christ to those around them and encourage their friends and neighbors as they serve God in Alaska.
Their first term included time in the communities of Tok and Aniak. They were able to help in children's ministry, youth ministry, sermons, Bible studies, summer camps, hosting teams, and many other areas of growth and experience for them. Their first term was intended as an internship and overall it has confirmed that God has clearly called, gifted, and prepared them for ministry in western Alaska.
The Caseys are now living in Nulato, a community on the Yukon river about 300 air-miles west of Fairbanks, since August 2015. They love their neighbors and regularly see how special they are to God. They see tremendous potential both in Nulato and the other villages in their region. They long to see their community be a place known for loving God and loving others, so that it would then be contagious to their region and the rest of the world.
