Awana
Children's Program
Awana is an international, Bible-centered youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs and programs for three-year-olds through eighth grade. Its goal is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him.
The Awana program at Scenic Park Bible Church began this year on September 20th and is expected to continue through May 9th, 2023. The program is available in-person for ages 3-18 on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm to 8 pm. No masks are required, but participants may wear masks if desired.
We will continue Awan the way we have since Covid, meeting as one group. We still have three main times: Large Grooup (lesson time), Small Group (handbook time), and Game Time Each child works in a handbook designed for his/her age group. Parents are not required to stay, but are always welcome to stay. We are excited to study stories from the Bible and find all the interesting things that can be found there. We hope you can come and join us.
If you have questions or are willing to help us, please contact Susan Buller (907-726-7208) or Kim Tedrick (907-302-1616).
Children up through eighth grade meet Tuesday evenings 6:00 until 7:30 pm., arriving between 5:45 and 6:00 to register for the evening's activities.
For more information about our Awana program, you can contact the church office by phone (333-1414) or by e-mail office@spbcalaska.com .
Each Awana program is geared to the needs of a particular age or grade. For those new to Awana, we have the following clubs:
Cubbies ...... 3 and 4 year olds
The Awana club for preschoolers is built on two premises:
• Young children can and should receive spiritual training.
• Home is the primary place for spiritual training.

Sparks ..... K, 1st and 2nd grade
The Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade builds on the material taught in our preschool club. The aim of the curriculum is to take youngsters a step deeper into God´s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.

Truth & Training

 |
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach boys and girls the truth of the Word of God and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of young people of today will become tomorrow´s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow and today.

From mature Christians to unchurched nonbelievers, seventh- and eighth-graders have wide-ranging spiritual, emotional, social and physical needs. One approach doesn't fit them all.

Journey

Journey is a multi-year high school ministry curriculum with four main studies. It establishes high school students as lifelong disciples through a deep study of God's Word, mobilizing them to live with godly perspective and evident faith. Four complete years' worth of material supports our high school ministry.
Awana is fun!
The meetings are filled with enriching experiences. The curriculum stresses moral and spiritual values and there is a strong emphasis on Scripture memorization. Each week is built around three activities:
GAMES - Game time features dozens of organized games which allow boys and girls to unleash their natural enthusiasm and energy while learning important lessons about sportsmanship and fair play.
MEMORY WORK - This is a learning segment focusing upon the importance of God's Word in our daily lives. Children progress through graded handbooks working individually and together with their leader.
LESSON TIME - There is a Bible study when leaders have a chance to explore key areas of the Christian walk. Every night ends with awards and recognition for individual handbook progress and for team points scored during game time.
