Nate and Teressa Sobie
Ezra, Len, Norah
Nate and Teressa Sobie, along with their three children, work for Send North, which is a disciple-making ministry that serves in the villages and remote areas of Alaska and Northern Canada. Nate is the Director of Aviation.
Nate grew up in Ohio, and got a vision for mission aviation after meeting some Alaska missionary pilots while on a trip to Nome. After completing his flight training, he moved to Alaska permanently in 2009. After working as a flight instructor for a year in Anchorage, he moved out to Port Alsworth, where he flew for a commercial air taxi. He met Teressa at church in Anchorage and they were married in 2013. Teressa grew up in Palmer, Alaska, hearing stories from her grandparents who were missionaries in remote parts of Alaska for many years. She has had a heart for missions since she was young.
During their time in Port Alsworth, the Lord was working in Nate and Teressa's hearts to see His Kingdom grow in the villages of Alaska. In 2019, they joined SEND and Nate was the Aviation Director/Chief Pilot. SEND operates four planes in Alaska. These planes are used by village ministry workers to travel from village to village as a disciple-making tool. This includes flying young people to Bible camps, and visiting other village churches that do not have pastors.
On top of making sure the village based planes are operating well, Nate flies a plane out of Anchorage in support of village ministry workers. This includes a lot of freight loads, flying missionaries and work teams to and from Anchorage, and being on standby to fly children to camp when the weather or number of passengers require another plane and pilot.
