The Hornings - David, Laura, Ryan, Kayla, Micah, Tyler
David and Laura Horning are missionaries with Native New Life to the Native People groups of Alaska. The Hornings have been supported by Scenic Park Bible church since 2001.
David attended kindergarten at Anchorage Christian Academy, a school that used to be run by Scenic Park Bible church, and later graduated from this same school. David is also the son of retired pastor Denis Horning.
David felt the Lord calling him to mission work during his college years. The Lord used mission trips and a trip to the Urbana missions conference to confirm to him that God wanted him in full time missions. David graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and went on to get a Master's degree in communications from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Laura grew up in a strong Christian home in the Midwest. From a young age, she knew that God wanted her involved in ministry. Laura graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a degree in Mathematics and Education. She and David met while she was on tour with the Continental Singers in Alaska.
David and Laura have four children; Ryan (June 7, 2000), Kayla (Dec. 16, 2001), Micah (Dec. 6, 2003) and Tyler (April 30, 2006).
David and Laura work together under the ministry of Native New Life. David records the weekly meetings and edits them for radio broadcast on 18 radio broadcast facilities around Alaska and also on the web. David also works on special projects like the yearly Native Musicale and the Howling Husky Gospel Festival. He helps produce and distribute CD's and DVD's of the meetings and events to villages around Alaska. David is excited about finding and utilizing new ways to use media and technology to spread the Gospel of Christ. He also does a lot of the paperwork and administrative projects for Native New Life.
Laura works with the Native Children at the weekly Native New Life meetings. She works with fifteen to twenty Native children on Monday nights. The children's program she leads uses music, games, and stories to teach Biblical principles. Through her ministry, several young families have started attending the weekly New Life meetings on a regular basis.
Please pray for the Horning family as they seek to reach Alaska's Natives for Christ. Pray for wisdom in how best to use their time and also in the best methods to use to reach these people. Pray also for opportunities to witness and build relationships as they seek to spend time with these people one-on-one to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
